Once upon a time, Burkhard Wendel, a talented cabinet maker, sought happiness abroad in far-away Canada. He met Diane, a young, literature and art student during his studies. They fell in love, married, moved back to Burkhard’s hometown in Germany and set up house in the former factory of his father where they pursued their dream to have a center of art, excellent handcrafts and social involvement. They started with a small country shop, hence the name “Country Living”, doing North American patchwork and small, wooden jigsaw animals. In 2009 they will be celebrating 25 years of marriage and 25 years of being a close team in the work they do. In those 25 years that little country shop expanded to become an international business, but still intimate and familiar because it is operated by family and many friends. Together with their highly motivated team, they have continued to implement a personal love for design, quality and creativity in manufacturing products of beauty and pleasure. ...And so they hope to live happily ever after. |
